Dr. David Jeremiah Issues Statement on Recent Plane Crashes
(San Diego, CA) This past week, our nation has faced two great tragedies back-to-back, with the collision of American Airlines flight 5342 and a military helicopter in Washington, DC, followed by the crash of a medivac plane in Philadelphia. At moments like this, our comfort can only come from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But that does not mean we shouldn’t rally around our brothers and sisters experiencing fear and heartache. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians that God comforts us “so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves received.”
We have seen this kind of behavior the last few days as first responders and neighbors have jumped into action. Whether you personally know someone affected by these tragedies or you’ve just been touched by the news, let us all pray together for peace, answers, and a lack of fear.
Join me as we petition our heavenly Father:
Heavenly Father,
You are the great comforter and our source of strength.
I pray now that You would comfort the families and friends of those lost in these tragic accidents. May your peace be upon them in the hours, days, and weeks ahead. n.
I ask You to keep the first responders and the witnesses in your loving care. Provide wisdom to the community leaders and organizations handling the investigation and clean-up.
May Your peace fill those anxious and afraid and may we as neighbors not only lift our brothers and sisters up in prayer but also be Your hands and feet for those in need.
May Your Spirit prevail, and may sorrow be turned into joy, for we know that in You, there truly is joy beyond the pain.
We pray this in Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
