Sarah—The Mom Who Waited
Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Genesis 18:11
Have you ever had to wait a REALLY long time for something? Maybe you’ve been waiting for your birthday. Or waiting to find out if you made a team. Or waiting for something you prayed about over and over, and God still hasn’t answered yet. Waiting is hard!
The Bible tells us about Sarah—she knew a lot about waiting. She and her husband Abraham had wanted a baby for years and years. They waited so long that it seemed completely impossible. Sarah was almost 90 years old! There was no way she could have a baby, except that God had promised she would.
At first, Sarah laughed when she heard God’s promise again. It just seemed too crazy to believe! But here’s what the Bible says about her: “And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.” (Hebrews 11:11, NIV). She decided to trust that God was faithful and would keep His promise, even when everything looked impossible.
And He did! Sarah had a baby boy named Isaac, and she laughed again. This time, not because she couldn’t think of herself ever having a child, but she laughed with joy instead of doubt. The wait was over, and God had done exactly what He said He would do.
If you’re waiting on God to answer a prayer, remember Sarah. God keeps His promises. His timing might be different from yours, but He is always faithful!
Think About It: Is there something you’ve been praying about for a long time and waiting for God to answer? Write it down. Then write these words next to it: “God is faithful.” Every time you feel discouraged about waiting, read that back to yourself and remember Sarah!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
