From Sadness to Joy!
Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). Genesis 35:19
The very first time the town of Bethlehem is mentioned in the Bible, it’s actually a sad story. A woman named Rachel died near Bethlehem while having a baby. Her husband, Jacob, was so heartbroken! He set up a special marker at her grave, and people still visit that place today.
But here’s the amazing part: Hundreds and hundreds of years later, that same little town became the place where something WONDERFUL happened—Jesus was born! The place that was once known for sadness became the place known for the greatest joy in the world!
That’s just like what Jesus does in our lives! Maybe you have something sad in your life right now. Maybe someone you love is sick, or your family is going through a hard time, or you’re feeling lonely or scared. Jesus sees your sadness, and He wants to bring you comfort and joy!
Jesus came to earth to “heal the brokenhearted” (Isaiah 61:1). That means when your heart feels broken or sad, Jesus can make it better. He can take your sadness and turn it into joy, just like He turned Bethlehem from a place of sadness into a place of celebration!
Think About It: Is there something making you sad right now? It’s okay to feel sad sometimes—even Jesus cried when His friend died. But remember, Jesus came to bring hope and healing! Talk to Jesus about what’s making you sad. Ask Him to help you find joy again. And remember the story of Bethlehem—the place of sadness became the place where the Savior was born! Jesus can turn your sadness into joy too!

PARTNER WITH us

As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, the importance of family has always been a core value in my life. I have been a pastor for decades, watching families grow and generation after generation come up in faith. That is why Bible Strong Kids is so important to me. What better legacy to leave for our children and grandchildren than to raise them up in faith, strengthening them for the journey ahead all the way into adulthood?
I hope you will join us in this endeavor to create the next generation of Bible Strong Kids—children who know their worth in God’s eyes and are equipped to shine His light in an increasingly dark world.
